Ajax Aggregator Sites - Why Are They Springing Up?

Of late, I've seen a growing number of Ajax/DHTML/JS component aggregator sites popping up on the net. The first one that I noticed was MiniAjax. Then I found another one which was even bigger called Ajax Rain. And then tonight, I find Ajax Daddy.

All appear to do the same thing; display a collection of Ajax/JS/DHTML components but I'm not sure if these sites are built to simply be a showcase or as a method for driving traffic for future monetization. I haven't seen any Google ads or banners so I'm a little perplexed.

For now, I'm going to take advantage of these cool sites and pick off the great components being developed out there.

If anyone has any ideas as to why these were built, feel free to weigh in.

ArchRajan's Gravatar Hi, i am the webmaster of ajaxrain, and i started building this site as a reference hub for myself and my team, now there are a lot of people who can benefit from it. it will always remain ad free, and i do not have any intentions to create revenue from this site.

Rey Bango's Gravatar Thanks for the reply ArchRajan. As you know, I find AjaxRain invaluable and regularly send you plugin notices from the jQuery project. I'm also interested in the business side of things and with so many similar sites springing up, I instantly thought that there must be some revenue model that I'm missing.

As for revenue, if you remain ad free, that's awesome but I think that you should consider some form of sponsorship to help you with the amount of effort you're putting in to build this collection. I think you have, by far, the biggest collection of widgets listed and should be rewarded in some way for your efforts.
