CFML - The Red-Headed Step Child....AGAIN!
So O'reilly published an article that lists the languages that are most commonly used in Ajax development, from most used to least.
Languages used in Ajax development
And while I'm not entirely shocked, CFML was again left out of the comparison. It seems that ColdFusion/CFML is ALWAYS left out of these comparisons. What the heck man! CFML is still a widely used language which is on par with any of the ones listed in the article. It really frustrates me to see CFML relegated to an after-thought by the press. So, what can we do to change this perception? What can Adobe do about? With the money and marketing position that Adobe holds, you would figure that they could influence things a bit.

How was CFML left out?

-- Today EWeek.com posted an article "10 Programming Languages You Should Learn Right Now"
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2016415,00.as...
fyi ... the EWeek article listed "Job availabilities" for each language off of Dice.com. At the time of this post, on Dice.com there are 352 ColdFusion job listings, and 313 for Cold Fusion (geez, it was November 1998 that the blank space in the name was dropped, but still almost 8 years later almost half of all CF jobs are still listed under the product's name as of version 3.) Still, even with a combined 665 listings, Ruby is the only one of the 10 languages listed in the EWeek article that CF is currently beating on the open job listings measure. Whatever that means :-)
